Testaccio Food Tour
This tour is conceived for those who wish to have a deep knowledge of the real Roman cuisine.
This tour is conceived for those who wish to have a deep knowledge of the real Roman
cuisine. You will taste the most famous as well as the less known recipes that were
created by the butchers who worked at the ancient slaughterhouse.
Testaccio is sort of the real birth place of Roman food, it’s less known, less touristy, but still
very interesting and “authentic” in the sense that it’s mostly Romans that live and shop
around here. Testaccio is where to go for an authentic feel of today’s Rome. You could walk and explore
for hours, and enjoy just being among friendly locals. After visiting a legendary gourmet deli shop, we will
stop in the most popular stands at the colorful Testaccio local market and in a typical wine cellar.
Along our tour we will also take a look at the ancient slaughterhouse, now transformed into a modern
museum and at the picturesque artists’ cemetery, additionally we will have a regional pasta tasting with a DOCG wine tasting in a local fraschetta, a typical restaurant where you can savour the regional dishes.
